Encrypting Data: Encrypt a file or a folder: Click on File or Folder (in the Encrypt column), then choose which file or folder to encrypt. Select the type of encryption you want to use (symmetrical, asymmetrical with a public key, asymmetrical by creating a public key with a creation key). Enter the secret key, choose the public key or enter the creation key you want to use. Note: when typing a key you can check it by pressing and holding the Ctrl key. Choose whether to give the encrypted file/folder a random name. Choose the folder where you want the encrypted file to be saved: a) the same folder where the unencrypted file/folder is b) a different folder (In the 'Settings' window you also have an option to put a second copy of an encrypted file/folder in another location.) Choose whether to securely erase the original. Click the Encrypt button or press the Enter key. You'll be told the name of the encrypted file (with a .DKE) extension then the window will closes. Encrypting a block of text: High-light and copy the block of text you want to encrypt (in another application). Click on Text (in the Encrypt column), then click the Paste button. Select the type of encryption you want to use (symmetrical, asymmetrical with a public key, asymmetrical by creating a public key with a creation key). Click the Encrypt button or press the Enter key. The text is encrypted, displayed and copied to the clipboard. Switch to the application where you want to put the encrypted block and paste it there. |
